Spring 2022

Mary Soo Hoo Park is the symbolic entrance to Boston’s Chinatown. Mary Soo Hoo is a place of gathering for the Asian community and the main demographic is elderly men who come to socialize. This park has an underutlized use of space leading to many people standing around. Our project aimed to create a more inclusive and active use of the park, including language inclusive signage, a community events board, an informative website, and Xiangqi (Chinese chess) tables. For this project I created the logo, logo animation, typeface, video, and posters. While working on this project our main focus was the Chinatown community, creating something that would be helpful and new while also keeping the rich history and culture of Chinatown in mind.
