Over the past two years, I have been carrying around a small digital camera and documenting friends, places, and other things I’ve experienced. This zine builds relationships between what I’ve written and photographed, an exploration of what I find important and why. The poems and photos serve as complementary pieces that together create a larger narrative. The poems provide emotional or contextual cues that are further emphasized by the photos, while the photos may provide visual cues that are further explored in the poems. The end result is a unique interpretation of my experience that highlights the connection between words and images. This abstract relationship adds depth and complexity to the zine, creating a rich, multi-layered experience.
